The first ever LINC Orientation Day for the Toronto program took place on Friday, October 16.
Our day-time classes gathered at the Multi-Purpose Hall of 2330 Midland where students enjoyed an informative and fun-filled day. After visiting the game booths and information display tables, all students were treated to a series of presentations on the major programs and services offered by CICS. All participants received an information package with brochures about our language training, settlement and community services programs, as well as the services offered at the Markham South Welcome Centre and Immigrant Youth Centre. To add to the festive atmosphere at the event, many students walked away with prizes from the numerous lucky draws that took place throughout the day.
Everyone agreed that the highlights of the day were the variety of high-quality performances put up by our own students. It was heart-warming to see students putting the language learned in class to good use during some of the performances.
The LINC Orientation Day ended with a visit to the last CICS Good Food Market of this year where students not only learned the names of the array of fruits and vegetables on display but also picked up some good bargains to be enjoyed at home. Courtesy of our sponsor, iTalkBB, all participants enjoyed a healthy lunch to round off this happy event.
