The annual IYC Youth Forum was held on Saturday, November 21st 2015 at Markham South Welcome Centre.
It began with a gap breaker activity - building paper bridges, which provided youth and their parents a valuable opportunity to communicate and work together on a project. The essence of the forum was a panel presentation and interview, followed by interactive Q & A on the floor. The panel consisted of young professionals from different fields and university students who received services from CICS over time. They shared their experiences, perspectives and learning with the youth participants; their positive energy and presentation have provided the youth and their parents with great insights into conquering difficulties they face, preparing for post-secondary study and making career decisions in the future. Many youth stayed behind to talk to the panelists one-on-one. Altogether, more than 100 youth and their parents from across the GTA participated to explore different career paths and to enhance intergenerational communication skills.
