2018-06 IRCC announced at CICS that UnionPay will be an acceptable payment method for Canadian visa application

On June 22, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that in order to facilitate visitors from China to have a better experience in paying application fees when applying for a Canadian visa online, IRCC has decided to include China UnionPay as a payment method.

The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussen made the above announcement at the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS). He stressed that 2018 is the China-Canada Year of Tourism. Adding China UnionPay as one of the payment methods for visa fees will make it more convenient for tourists from China when applying for a Canadian visa, which will help attract more Chinese tourists to Canada.

Members of Congress, Mary Ng, Shaun Chen, Geng Tan, Jean Yip, and the Executive Director of CICS, Moy Wong-Tam, attended the press conference.
