CICS Releases Annual Report 2021-2022

TORONTO, ON - August 30, 2022 — The Centre for Immigrant and Services (CICS) today released its 2021-2022 Annual Report that highlights the agency’s relentless efforts in thriving towards excellence through another COVID-19 year. The report also continues the tradition of emphasizing CICS’ work in creating stories of inclusivity.

“At CICS, we see ourselves as storytellers,” CICS Executive Director Alfred Lam said. “We tell the stories of those whose voices are often not heard. We tell their stories to undo the false narratives about newcomers and the immigrant communities that fuel racism and discrimination. Our latest annual report is a labour of love by our staff, to tell the ongoing story of our work in our 53rd year.”

The CICS Annual Report 2021-2022 showcases key activities across various teams within CICS, including settlement, language training, early years, children and youth, women and seniors, employment, community food program and community and volunteer engagement. Each program page is accompanied by a client or volunteer story to illustrate how we have improved the lives of the people we touch.

New this year, the report features informative and thought-provoking Q and As with CICS staff members who strive to make an impact in the community with their own expertise. This addition also reflects the diversity of CICS’ services and our efforts in filling the gap by serving the underserved populations.

Finally, the “Into the Future” section describes how CICS plans to build our head office, the Immigrant Resource Centre in Scarborough, into a community health and wellness hub in collaboration with various stakeholders.
