Module 1 - Job readiness Skills

Four sessions for new immigrants to turn you into successful job seekers.

  • Resume writing

  • Develop an elevator pitch and networking
  • One-on-one support on developing job readiness skills

Module 2 - Communication in the workplace

The ability to communicate effectively is essential in the workplace. Effective communication skills can help develop good relationships, land promotions, increase morale and productivity at work and succeed in your careers.

  • Participating in a meeting
  • Email etiquette
  • Report writing
  • Other strategies for workplace communication and conversation management
  • One-on-one support on improving communication in the workplace

Module 3 - Canadian workplace culture

These sessions aim to help newcomers develop new skills and learn how to adapt to the new Canadian workplace culture to succeed in their careers.

Module 4 - Your rights in the workplace

Workers in Ontario have health and safety rights and the right to be free from discrimination. Know your rights!!!

  • Understand human rights and your rights and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Understand workplace harassment and discrimination and how to deal with it
  • Understand multiculturalism and racism in the workplace and how to deal with it
  • Strategies for your mental well-being

Module 5 - Social effectiveness skills

Learn practical tips on interpersonal skills to protect your rights while respecting others. Develop the most effective approach to achieving your goals in social interaction.

  • How can I be assertive and develop social effectiveness skills
  • Embark on a journey of self-discovery and being socially effective

Sessions will be delivered in a hybrid model of online and in-person learning. Evening and weekend classes will be available. All participants will receive a combination of workshops and one-on-one individual support and mentoring.
