Individual Counselling
We provide counselling services in the following languages: English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Immigrating to a new country can be a stressful and challenging process. If you need individual counselling support, feel free to call and make an appointment with our staff to discuss issues relating to stress caused by settlement, family/marital conflict or aging.

Newcomer Gatherings
If you’re newcomers in the community, come to our Newcomer Seniors Welcoming Gatherings. Monthly meetings are held at Bridlewood and Fairview Branch Library. Each meeting will have a special topic such as social services, housing and accommodations, health benefits and services, vision protection and so forth.

Seniors Support Groups
Immigrating to a new country can be a very exciting and challenging experience. Would you like to share your stories with others or to learn more about the community resources in your neighbourhood?  The Chinese-speaking Seniors Support Group and the South Asian Seniors Support Club meet regularly at different Welcome Centers of Immigrant Services in York region. This is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends and find support for one another. Each meeting features a special topic such as health related issues, employment, education, recreation, social benefits and more.  We invite you to come and be a part of this community.

Evergreen Senior Support Group
This support group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month inside the Milliken Mills Library. Fun-filled and informative activities such as wellness exercise, story-telling, English Conversation Circle and information sessions on settlement topics are organized by our Mandarin-speaking staff at the library and Settlement Workers.

Seniors Cyber and Social Club
Are you a senior over 55 years old and is interested in obtaining basic computer knowledge? This is a group you can’t miss. Come and learn how to use technology to access community resources and connect with friends and families using social media tools. The computer program has three levels: Become a Cyber Seniors, Fun with Internet and Digital World. Mandarin speaking group meets on Wednesday mornings; Cantonese speaking group on Wednesday afternoons; the one at Markham South Welcome Centre meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Call our staff to learn details.

Health & Wellness
Taiji classes are held at different locations every morning from Monday to Saturday. Every Wednesday in our Drop-In fitness program, seniors may enjoy table tennis, Wii games, treadmill, stationary bike, home gym, or exercising with guidance from a professional instructor.

Special Events
Throughout the year, CICS hosts special events for seniors such as the Chinese New Year and Christmas celebrations, Health Fair, and Social Services Fair. Please check back often to see upcoming events.

Tax Clinic for Seniors
Every year during the taxation season, we will provide assistance to help seniors and low income families to file their tax return. Such service is offered at different CICS offices. Please contact our staff for details.
